I'm confused. How TurboSim works?

I want to devise my own little method to get my sim card to work based on TurboSim. However, I don't really know how TurboSim works (or sim cards for that matter).

From what I know, the TurboSim chip is written to hold AT&T's ICCID and IMSI such that the iPhone will be tricked into think that it is an AT&T sim card in place. However, after researching more about sim cards, I found that the sim card's ICCID and IMSI is required for the network to identify your card/number. As such, masking your card's ICCD and IMSI will not allow the network to recognize your subsciption.

So, I'm not so sure, what exactly do TurboSims do?


Here's my proposed method:
Purchase a blank sim card and a sim card reader/writer.
Clone your sim card, while replacing the ICCID and IMSI with AT&T's.
Cloned sim card is then iPhone-compatible.

I just don't want to cut up my sim card... so please help me.

So the sim cloning method won't work, will it? Apparently from what I can gather from that thread, TurboSim gives the iPhone the AT&T ICCID and IMSI, but allows the original sim card's ICCID/IMSI to be transmitted to the network...

If that's the case, completely replacing the cloned ICCID/IMSI with AT&T's will render the network unable to identify my subscription...

Am I right?

My follow up Questions after reading this Thread:

How can a normal Guy like me determine whether my sim Card is a Version 1, 2 or 3?

Im asking because i have my SimCard now for about 9 Years and now i think i could have such a Version 1 Card.

The next thing is, if my card really is a V1 Simcard how can i edit the IMSI and the ICCID??

For shure i need a Card reader, and then? Hex-editing the image of my Simcard? I think this is nonsense. But maybe i can reprogramm my own SimCard Version 1 with an Programmer from Bladox???

So IF i got an SimCard Version 1 wich i might can reprogramm by myself, could it work? and if the answer is yes how could i do it?

Sorry if it is a stupid Question but its an obvious one in this context...

EDIT. Sorry, it took me too long to write this post, the Statement in the previous Post was not mentioned in my thinking so i think my idea wont work.
