1.0.2 --> 1.1.2 [help]

So I havent visited these boards in about two months and now I want to update my FW. can anyone show me how I would do this or atleast post a link to a tutorial. if I cant go to that fw, then atleast help me with 1.1.1 If any other info is needed from me just ask.

I saw this post yesterdaysnd thought, wow, this guys gonna get ripped a new one. Hmmm, to my surprise, this doesn't seem to be the case. You need to start with virginizing your iPhone. Head over to i.unlock.no (google it) and follow the procedure for virginizing. This process reverses the "damage" done by anySIM 1.0x. Once this is complete, you can go to fw1.1.1, activate and jailbreak (try Carnival), unlock with anySIM 1.1 and stop here if you like. If not, install oktoprep via installer, restore to 1.1.2, put phone in airplane mode and run anySIM 1.2u. There are several guides on this site to walk you through the process. Now, with that being said, what are some potential issues? You may get the dreaded imei 0049 problem, which is unfixable on a small number of phones. Additionally, jailbreakme.com is finiky, it may take several tries. Good luck and let me know how it goes...and the methods you used. Cheers

I'm in the same boat as you....I have a 1.02 that I wanted to upgrade to 1.1.1. I just haven't had time to actually sit down and do it....just in case there are any problems I don't want to be without a phone ;)

I did my unlock with iunlock though, and not anysim, but from what i've been reading it shouldn't matter.

anyways I checked this form a few weeks ago and found this amazing site.

If you already have the BSD subsystem on your iPhone, you don't need to go through 1.1.1 on your way to 1.1.2. Just ssh in and do

mknod /private/var/root/Media/disk c 14 1

That's all that the entire 1.1.1/jailbreakme.com/oktoprep steps will do for you. Virginize if you need to, run the command above, and then go directly from 1.0.2 to 1.1.2 using "Update" and not "Restore" from iTunes.
