Hey all!
Christmas is coming up and so far no new unlock is visible on the horizon. Because of that I'm looking into other means of unlocking, such as TurboSIM. My biggest gripe with TurboSIM is that you actually have to cut up your sim card which in my case is a no go. So basicly I was thinking about cloning my AT&T card that came with the phone in order to make the iPhone believe it's a legit card there.
Now, I've read a bunch of stuff here on the boards about this procedure and I think I understand the process itself fairly well. I've looked into what hardware to get etc. But some posts have worried me. First off, it seems that this procedure is only valid with certain specific SIM version -- v1 I think which suggests v2 & v3 is a no go. This is troublesome since I really have no idea what version my SIM is or even how to figure it out, but I'm guessing it's a pretty late version since it's a 3G card (v3?).
Another thing that worries me was someone claiming that the operator actually thinks the user is abroad and as such applies roaming charges. Obviously this is useless to me, the costs would quickly fly through the roof and no phone is worth that, Apple or not.
What do you reckon, is TurboSIM my only solution right now or can I do this using a SIM reader/writer and a silver card?
Cheers and thanks for any input!
