iPhone Question for those who unlocked it with iASign and made it usable for people who already have a contract with the old Cingular and AT&T sim cards.

For those who hacked and made the phone usable to make calls and all.

Does YouTube still work for you even with wiFi or Edge????

Sorry to be asking this but i can't find this question in the forums.

So far I have been unable to get YouTube working. That is the only problem. I had another problem where the iphone seemed to be blocking port 25 but I was able to get arround that by setting my SMTP servers to also listen on another port but I don't know if that is related or not.

Will the hackers be able to find a patch to fix YouTube for those who like us who already unlocked it so we can use old cingular & at&t sim cards?

I activated my iPhone today with a cingular gophone SIM I bought on ebay, and my Youtube does not work either...

I am glad that I can finally use my iPhone as a phone now :) and I think that it may be cheaper to use than my old prepaid phone.

I've heard two theories for this.

One theory is that the iphone requires a separate data plan from the normal data plan to use certain features. Blackberries require a separate data plan so that could indeed be the case but I would imagine it wouldn't just effect youtube which it only seems to be.

the other theory that i have heard is that right after activation through itunes, some software is supposed downloaded to the iphone to aid with youtube streaming.

Hopefully its the latter as it would just be some software for the hackers to find.

so what can we do to let the hackers know about this??? The YouTube feature is really cool and i would like to use it.

Any advice? you think the next firmware that apple releases may fix it?

I honestly don't know. I am willing to try any test or update they want me to. my only advice would be just to keep talking about this problem so that someone willing to try sees it. I doubt that apple will do anything to fix it since for the most part, those that activate the "proper" way don't have a problem.

the more ppl that bring it up, the better the chance at someone who knows WAY more than us puts out a fix for it.

where is right here. Who, I don't know. But I've been arround the modding scene long enough to know that its all about demand for an update that drives how quickly its made if it can be made.
