[1.1.2 OTB] Downgrade/Activate/Jailbreak MADE EASY (For Newbies)

GUYS IF YOU WANT TO ACTIVATE / JAILBREA & UNLOCK YOUR 1.1.2 & 1.1.3 OUT OF THE BOX IPHONE FOLLOW MY NEW TUTORIAL BY PRESSING HERE (http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=28789)

This Tutorial is for newbies like me.

when i got my iphone i was lost , i didnt know what to do because there are TONS AND TONS OF INFO out there and various methods.

So i have decided to write this tutorial so that the newcomers follow this step by step.

So let me give you a very clear tutorial.

First Of all you need to check the week of production of your Iphone
you can find this on the back of your iphone in the SERIAL Number
You will have somehting like this : 7V745xxxxxx
the 45 means it was produced on the 45th week
Iphones from week 45 and above have the new Bootloader version 4.6 with the 1.1.2 Firmware which is unlockable without a TurboSim

You can also check the Modem Firmware version of your Iphone by doing the following.

1- Turn on your iphone, you will get "Slide for Emergency Call"
2- Slide and you will get the phone keypad
3- type *3001#12345#* and press CALL
3- Press on VERSIONS

If you have the version 04.02.12_G you are sure to have the bootloader version 4.6 which in unlockable without a TurboSim

What you can do now is downgrade your firmware 1.1.2 to a firmware 1.1.1, by doing that you can use every aspect of your iphone except all the functions that need a SIM card

I will explain to you how to proceed step by step to downgrade, activate and finally jailbreak your iphone

For those who dont know what each work means ...

DOWNGRADE : go from firmware 1.1.2 to firmware 1.1.1
ACTIVATE: Bypass the AT&T activation to have access to all the functions in the iphone
JAILBREAK: gives you the ability to install 3rd party applications on the iphone.




STEP 1 - DOWNLOAD NECESSARY FILES

First Download the apple 1.1.1 firmware file

Second Download Ibrickr if you are using Windows or 1.1.2 jailbreak for Mac

Ibrickr : http://ibrickr.com/downloads/ibrickr_v0.91.zip

1.1.2 jailbreak : http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/1.1.2-jailbreak.zip




STEP 2 - DOWNGRADE FROM 1.1.2 TO 1.1.1

At this step if you dont have Itunes installed on your Computer please visit the apple website and download and install Itunes

- Next Plug your USB in your computer and in your iphone, Itunes will automatically open and give you an ACTIVATION page

-Now press the MENU BUTTON and THE POWER BUTTON at the same time and keep pressing them until Itunes tells you that it has detected that your Iphone is in recovery Mode, this could take something from 10 seconds to 30 seconds, so keep pressing both buttons until you get the message

- Once you get the message dismiss the warning message in Itunes (Itunes has detected .....) by pressing OK and now you have 2 options , the first is Search for Updates and the second, that we will use is RECOVER

BEFORE YOU PRESS ON THE RECOVER BUTTON YOU NEED TO PRESS YOUR SHIFT BUTTON IN WINDOWS (OPTIONS BUTTON IN MAC) AND THEN PRESS RECOVER

Now a "Browse your files" window will open, go and chose the firmware 1.1.1 file you have downloaded in step 1 and press open

now Itunes will start downgrading your iphone (this takes some time) and the downgrade process will end up with an error message 1013 or 1015 THIS IS VERY NORMAL

-Next if you are using Windows Open Ibrickr and chose the Option "Reboot my Iphone" to kick your Iphone out of the Recovery Mode

[(Don't forget to extract the iBrickr.rar files ontop a desktop folder)-edited by Number]

-ON MAC use iNdependence to kick the phone out of recovery mode http://independence.googlecode.com/

Now you iphone will restart and you will have an ACTIVATION PAGE on your iphone with the nice round WOrld image.




STEP3 - ACTIVATE AND JAILBREAK


Before you complete this part MAKE SURE that the AT&T Sim card is in your phone

Now, you are on the activation screen that says slide to make an emergency call, slide to get to the keypad and then do the following:


Dial *#307# and hit call

The iPhone will now start to ring itself, once it start to ring you have to erase *#307# by using the backslash button on your iphone and then type 0 and then CALL, the iphone will ring again and this time hit "Answer" then hit "Hold", the Phone will start to ring itself again, this time click "Decline".

Now on the screen you should be able to get to the contacts menu down the bottom, tap "Contacts" and then add a contact. Use the following instructions:


Add the Name "Testing" and tap save
Tap "Add URL" and type "prefs://1F" then tap save
Tap "Add URL" again and type "jailbreak.unlockthatiphone.com" then tap save

When this is done, tap "Save" again and it will take you to the contact page displaying the name "Test" and the two URLs you just added. Tap the "prefs://1F" URL and it will open the iPhone Settings page.

Tap "General" and Then "Auto-Lock", set it to "Never".

Go back to the settings page

From here, tap WiFi and Add your WiFi network and make sure you are connected to it

Now, hit the Menu button to go back to the Activation Screen, slide and dial the number 0, the iPhone will now ring itself again, tap answer, then hold, then decline just like before.

Now, hit contacts again and then Testing, this time go to the "jailbreak.unlockthatiphone.com" URL
Safari will open and loan the page, PRESS ON THE TOP OF THE SCREEN TO GET THE ADDRESS BAR AND CHANGE IT TO "http://jailbreakme.com" and hit GO when the page loads scroll to the bottom and click on "Install AppSnapp".

Safari will now close and your iPhone will now go back to the Activation Screen.

Once you get to the activation screen slide to get to the dial pad again and when you do this iPhone will restart by itself and thats it, your now Activated and JailBroken.



STEP4 - UPGRADE TO FIRMWARE 1.1.2 & ACTIVATE AND JAILBREAK

-Click on INSTALLER on your iphone (Blue Icon usually the last one)
If you are asked to update your Installer please do it (if you updated don't forget after the update installs press the HOME button, it will take you back to the SLIDE TO UNLOCK page )

-Now open your ITUNES on your PC or MAC and press on the name of your IPHONE in the left colum, this will take you to the page with UPDATE or RESTORE buttons

On your IPHONE clikc on INSTALLER and press on TWEAKS 1.1.1 and press and install Oktoprep, once it is installed it will give you a message on your iphone saying "YOUR PHONE IS NOW READY TO BE UPGRADED TO 1.1.2 ........" press OK and then press the HOME button and it will take you back to the SLIDE TO UNLOCK.

-Your ITUNES is still open on your PC or MAC now press UPDATE and ITUNES will update your iphone to FIRMWARE 1.1.2 and this time you will not get an error message like the last time when u downgraded to 1.1.1

If your iTunes has updated to 1.1.3, you need to press SHIFT + CLICK UPDATE (NOT RESTORE) and select the 1.1.2 firmware that you need to download before to your PC

When the Update is finished you will get a picture of a plug that will appear on your iPhone and you will have the page SLIDE TO UNLCOK but written in French

-Close ITUNES on your PC or MAC

-download and unzip 1.1.2 Jailbreak from here http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/1.1.2-jailbreak.zip

-In the Folder you will find the file jailbreak.jar Open it and press on JAILBREAK!
(IF JAILBREAK.JAR DOESNT OPEN UPDATE YOUR JAVA HERE (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp)

This will take some time and at the end you will get a message that says "Your Phone will reboot a couple of times ...... "

Let your phone REBOOT a couple of time... And you will get back to the SLIDE to UNLOCK page

YOU ARE DONE !!!!
YOU HAVE AN ACTIVATED AND JAILBROKEN 1.1.2 IPHONE
NOW ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GET A TURBOSIM AND START USING YOUR PHONE

that is correct. He forgot that part. Without it your phone will stay in recovery mode after downgrade I think

so apparently, after those steps, my phone wouldn't work, BUT:

installed the patch -> upgrade to 1.1.2 -> jailbreak 1.1.2

now it works.

I had the same problem as you did two nights ago. I downgraded my 1.1.2 OOB to the 1.1.1 firmware and had no signal. I upgraded back to 1.1.2 and jailbreaked and the signal finally started coming in.

This is because your iPhone has a 1.1.2 baseband. If you want to use 1.1.1 you have to use 'BB Downgrader (1.1.2)' in the unlocking tools.

You are wrong. If you were able to downgrade the baseband on a new OTB 1.1.2 iphone you'll be able to unlock it !!!! But the new bootloader won't allow you to downgrade it , this is the reason why OTB 1.1.2 are still unlockable. The method described in the post you mentioned only works with the 3.9 old bootloader.

Suddenly I got it working (don't know why), so my OTB 1.1.2/4.6 is now down to 1.1.1 and jailbreaken. I can use everything except the phone functions and will have to wait for a unlock software to be developed.

But in the meantime: Is there any way to get local languages (in my case German)? Or do I need for this to work to update to 1.1.2? And if yes, how could I do that without getting back into jail :confused:

That appears to be the case. I got mine from the US and executed the procedure given by the Threadstarter, and everything was fine. So obviously an ATT SIM card was included.

Yes all the phones purchased in the USA come with the AT&T sim
for those who want to Unlock their SIM the only solution for now remains TURBOSIM from Bladox.com, the turbosim is a sim card with a little electronic chip on it, you program the chip so that it makes the phone believe that there's a AT&T sim card in it and the phone will let you do phone calls with your own sim

The only thing is that you need to cut a small corner from your sim card so that you insert the Turbosim along with your own SIM card in your iphone

I think BLadox stopped selling TurboSim for now cause theyr received alooooooot of purchases in the past week, i have ordered mine and i will receive it in a couple of days, once i do i will post a detailed video on how to do this for newbies again :D Like me

I have already activated my iphone w/ att. So what do I need to change in the instructions to jailbreak my phone? I have done a search but still cannot get a firm grasp if the directions change for an already activated ATT phone.

Do I just need to download the 1.1.1 onto my macbook and start a restore?

Will a subsequent restore bring it to 1.1.2 current status?

hi guys. I have a question... I downgraded my 1.1.2 OOB 4.6BL to 1.1.1 and it seems successful. But when I verified *3001#12345#* , it says 04.02.13_G. I did choose iPhone1,1_1.1.1_3A109a_Restore.ipsw during the downgrade but I don't understand why it wasn't change to 04.01.13_G. Is it safe to proceed with the jailbreak and activation?

Hi,

I have two OOB 1.1.2. phones and I've managed to jailbreak the first one without any problems. But I'm having problems with the second one...

I've tried to do everything according to guides but when I'm downgrading to the version 1.1.1 I don't get the error message 1015 at all... Instead of that I'm getting message that my restoring process was successful. After that when I check the firmware, phone tells me that I have the 1.1.1 version installed.

Can someone please help with this? Should I try to upgrade the phone back to the 1.1.2 and then downgrade again or what? With the first phone I received the error message normally and was able to jailbreak the phone.

I have tried to downgrade couple of times already but I'm getting the same "successful restore" info all the time.

ITunes just doens't recognize that I have two Outlook profiles and "grays" out the "Selected Groups" Option.

It says "all contacts". I don't want to sync everything I have...

I didn't try to sync because I'm afraid I'll have everything from my both profiles...

oasis, I advise you to do what I just did, read all the pages from this thread and you'll understand ;).

I just bought an iphone too, and I was very sad to see that it's being difficult to downgrade version 1.1.2. At least I hope this jailbreak works, gonna try it later today, but it would be VERY nice if the full downgrade came out before Christmas :|.

You have made my day.. The steps are so easy to follow.
I am very disappointed when I received the iPhone 1.1.2 OTB, but luckily, I can still use it as an expensive iTouch.

I have just upgraded the the firmware back to 1.1.2 and realised that all my photos are still retained. It's really a good thing as I have not backup them yet.

Do note that all the others applications are gone, but not a prob. just need to spend some time to reinstall will do.

u will have to run the "windows.bat" file if you are using MS Windows. the jar is for MAC only. ;)

remember to select "install SSH" if you have not installed it before.

BTW, i will get a pop up message saying "Waiting for activation" once in a while. But this does not matter to me as the phone is still functional.

The sad thing now is that I am unable to type chinese now. it seem like the NativeCN does not work on the 1.1.2

Hi Guys i have found a fantastic application to backup all your contacts if you want to upgrade or downgrade your iphone one day

it's called funambol, you will find it in your INSTALLER , go in all packages and look for it there

you will have to go on Funambol's website and open an account , once done put your username and password in the application on your iphone and press Sync and tada all your contacts are stored online in ur account
so next time u need them u can sync them back to your phone
this is perfect because with outlook it's shitty

I was following the steps till the AppSnapp install. When i click on the install, it brought me back to the main "Activate iPhone" screen. But the phone never rebooted - despite waiting for awhile. Re-did the AppSnapp a few times but similar result.

Anyone has this issue and has managed to resolve it?

Sometmes youtube doesnt work unless u get connected to the wifi and you visit the Itunes store on your iphone first, then it will work

Im trying to downgrade to 1.1.1 and have downloaded the file. However I cant choose the file that I have downloaded. Have renamed the file to

But it is just greyed out when i select it in iTunes. Can someone please help to what I am doing wrong?

i have one more problem now... The phone kept telling me that I am running out of memory.

But when I went into the "Settings" to check out on the disk space, it shows that i have 6.3GB..!

I will also show "Waiting for Activation" pop up once in a while. However, good thing is that there is an option to select "Dismiss"

For everyone, where WiFi is not working.

You can downgrade to 1.0.2 jailbreak with iBrickr or iDemocrazy(no wifi needed) and then install Oktoprep on 1.0.2 and then update directly on 1.1.2 no need for 1.1.1.

After that the normal procedure again.

I dowload the 1.1.1 firmwire, but when i want to select it in iTunes, it's a folder!
Changing the name did'nt have any effect.

I was thinking of getting my dad an iphone for Xmas but he already has cingular. don't want to get a new plan or anything and want to add 3rd party apps so by following this tutorial will he be able to use the phone fine? I have read that even with AT&T service ppl have not been able to use the new 1.1.2 phones after jailbreaking it, but if done right everything should work fine right?

alright TrboSim is a Sim card that has a minature electrnic chipon it that you programm so that it makes ur iphone believe that u have an AT&T sim card in there and open the line for u

You can buy it from Bladox.com
it costs around 70euros with shiping so 110 US

You have to cut both the AT&T sim card that came with the Iphone and your own Sim card the one you want to use
its easily done with a sharp cutter

Everything works in the iphone with the TurboSIM all features work perfectly

and if in the future an unlock come out you can switch from yuor turbosim to the unlock, but i cant see why youwould want to do that coz once you install ur trubosim inside ur phone just forget about it and enjoy your phone lol

you can safely use it as an iTouch. In the worst case you can always restore the FW to its original status via iTunes.

Hello, I have a OOB 1.1.2 Iphone with AT&T service that I have currently been trying to downgrade activate and jailbreak. As I followed the steps shown I have successfully downgraded my phone from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 however now i get no service, On the very last step of step 3 when after downloading installer app through the phone as soon as I select it it goes back to the earth/activation screen before the download is completed. Currently is on 1.1.1 but with no installerapp icon. Should restore and start all over again or can I just jailbreak it since its now on 1.1.1?

I've got the same unknown error while upgrading to 1.1.2. After this I also cannot do anything - nor restore neither update. THe only way is to boot with iBrikr, then, having iphone still connected to PC, reboot the latter and wait. When iTunes start automatically, iPhone goes to restore mode and then I can restore to clean 1.1.2 or "update" to 1.1.1. If I try to upgrade the jailbreaked 1.1.1 -> unknown error.

USB port changes, reboots and iTunes reinstallations - really enjoyed doing all this staff again and again. It never helps.

I followed the steps in the tutorial, everything worked as described and at the end I had an activated/jailbroken iPhone 1.1.2

Everything seems to be working except for the you tube, on you tube I get an error saying "Cannot connect to YouTube".

Somebody in the forums suggested that this would go away after visiting iTunes store, Ive tried that a number of times but YouTube wouldnt work still....

Any help on this matter please?

I'm having a problem upgrading my firmware to 1.1.2 from 1.1.1., because I accidentally missed this step: If you are asked to update your Installer please do it (if you updated don't forget after the update installs press the HOME button, it will take you back to the SLIDE TO UNLOCK page )

I don't think I hit the home button, and now that the installer is upgraded, I'm brought back to the full menu. When I tried clicking on the left button of iphone on itunes (under the update/restore page), nothing happens. I can't get the installer to recognize tweaks 1.1.1, so I can't prep to install. And I can't seem to uninstall the Installer so that maybe I could try to upgrade it again.

What should I do? Now I can't upgrade to 1.1.2...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Im following all the directions on my pc everything goes through smoothly, as soon as I get to the very end when I install the appsnapp it attempts to dl a quarter of the way and kicks me back to the activation screen with the slide for emergency bar! :mad:

I downgraded from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 with no prob and went through every step as it says. Id appreciate any help before I throw this thing against the wall.

1. Should I be running Itunes when I first run Ibrickr?:confused: ( cuz i read on one of the other threads ( http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15849 ) that i have to make sure im not running itunes when i first run INDependance?) I just wanted to check if it's the same thing with Ibrickr.

2. At the beginning of step 3 (where i have to dial *#307# and hit many buttons), should i be connected to my pc and running Itunes or should it be not connected to the pc?:confused:

I have been reading this guide for days and also as much info I could on it preparing myself for the task. I have dl all the necessary files, and with ibrickr file after unzipping it, I cannt see the file for "Reboot my iPhone"?? For those of you having connection issues with jailbreak.jar on windows. Update your java prior to running it. Also, do not run the jailbreak.jar if you are on windows. Use the windows.bat and be patient, it will open up the jailbreak.jar and work just fine. The key is to update your java.

have the iphone connected

then make sure you quit itunes, then launch iNdependence and it should automatically kick it out of DFU mode, there will be a progress bar at the bottom left to tell you what it is doing.

it should take roughly 30 seconds to kick it out and then your iphone should be back to the activation screen !!!! (if your following the tutorial)

if it doesn't work make sure you have the newest version of iNdependence (1.3.1) and the newest version of itunes (7.5)

try to input 192.168.2.1 as a dns or check on you router on the WAN tab you should see the DNS Ip adress..

You need dns to resole name

you can try to go on http://72.14.207.99 on you iphone (this is google's ip)

I have tried 3 times to activate my iphone 04.02.13_G and no luck. I have arrived to the last part, where i need to wait for iphone to restart (after going to jaibreakme.com and clicked on "Install AppSnap") and nothing...

Few questions:
Why do i need to go to jailbreak.unlockthatiphone.com. What does that page do to the iphone?
How long lasts the installation of AppSnapp? My iphone go to that "Activate Iphone" screen 4-5 seconds after I have clicked on "Install AppSnap".

Is there any other way to activate 04.02.13_G?

But now I've got another problem: I want to know, which bootloader I have, and using Windows I should use puTTY for this.

But if I connect to my iPhone using puTTY, I can type in the username "root", but after this I'm not able anymore to type the password "alpine" in - nothing happens, when I type anything on my keyboard! puTTY doesn't react, the cursor within the puTTy-windows doesn't move and that's why I can't connect to my iPhone... :(

Do you know what may be wrong?

now Itunes will start downgrading your iphone (this takes some time) and the downgrade process will end up with an error message 1013 or 1015 THIS IS VERY NORMAL

Just FYI for those wanting to do this on a regularly activated 1.1.2 OOB iPhone -- it works!

The iTunes synchronization worked flawlessly. While attempting to upgrade to 1.1.2 again, iTunes asked whether or not to update the freshly-formatted phone to my old sync settings. I did it, continued on with the guide, and it worked! :)

I just got an OTB 1.1.2 iPhone and tried this tutorial. I downgraded it and it worked perfectly, then I set up my Wi-Fi and it works, but when I try to install AppSnap from jailbreakme.com, it goes back to the screen really fast and then nothing, I waited more than 5 minutes and it never rebooted.

Then I saw some people had this problem and tried their solutions:

- Complete Reset
- Connected/Not Connected to itune while doing it
- Try more than 50 times

Still no success.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me out with this. Thanks alot!

Just a quick question, everything's going fine until I get to step 3, the part where it say's:

"From here, tap WiFi and Add your WiFi network and make sure you are connected to it"

Connected to what?

Here's what I get on my screen:

WiFi - On
Choose a network - Sky 07813 or other
Ask to join networks

The Sky07813 asks for a password

I then proceed to dial 0 and go through the answer, hold, decline routine but when I go to jailbreak.unlockthatiphone.com it says that safari cannot open because it cannot find the server?

Is this anything to do with the fact I'm running a US version with an AT+T sim and I'm based in the UK? Should I be using a UK sim?

If you face a trouble in installing AppSnapp, you have to do it on IPHONE from a Wi_Fi with no proxy, if your network had a proxy it will not be installed. I did it my self and it works with the one without a proxy;)

For everyone, where WiFi is not working.

You can downgrade to 1.0.2 jailbreak with iBrickr or iDemocrazy(no wifi needed) and then install Oktoprep on 1.0.2 and then update directly on 1.1.2 no need for 1.1.1.

After that the normal procedure again.

Those who have troubles with Safati not able to load web pages, I'd suggest to look at Wi-Fi settings, especially Router's IP address. In my case, my default router was down and I have to change it manually to another working one. You can do this tapping your "Wi-Fi settings"/"Static"/"Router".

As far as I know, you must have a sim card with no PIN lock to make this work.
As for the error you're getting with Safari, does the Wi-Fi you're connecting to assign you an IP Address?
You can see that from the WiFi settings, if not then you have to assign a static IP Address, Gateway & DNS.

You should be fine installing Oktoprep whenever you have wifi available and then upgrade to 1.1.2 when you get home. I think I installed Oktoprep around 2 weeks before I got the courage to upgrade.

I received week49 iphone with 1.1.2 firmware OTB.. I downgraded to 1.1.1 and jailbroke it according to the guide here, but on the last step I had problem. After I upgraded to 1.1.2 again and when I started jailbreak.jar..a small window opens and say that "uploading installer..." but there is no progress..I waited for more than 2 hours but no progression. First off, I want to say that I really appreciate the instructions here. They helped me. Thank you to everyone who put in work and time to make this easy.

Second, I have a suggestion for this turtorial. I didn't see anyone mention it here, but I have seen similar points. It was a bit confusing for me.

When you download a compressed file or archive in Safari, it automounts or unzips the file and gets rid of it (or sticks in a place that I couldn't find). Leaving you with a directory (folder) called 1,1.1 or something like that. That folder is useless. It's not clear in the tutorial that the iPhone is going to take that 1.1.1.ipsw.zip file and do the uncompressing along with everything else. I think it may help to add a note into the tutorial about this... y'know, for the people like me. :)

I gather this has to do a bit with the version that of Jailbreak you use in the process of upgrading from 1.1.1 -> 1.1.2, at least it's noted in the JB notes. You might try restoring your phone to 1.1.2, and doing the process again. I found myself going between about 3 different instruction sets. Make sure you're using the most recent JB.

Thanks for the great tutorial - I was able to activate and jailbreak my week 50 iphone using it on my Mac.

There's a few bits of information that are missing or unclear - I was able to figure it out using a few other unlocking guides along with this one.

For one, I recieved error code 1602 during the 1.1.2 update. Apple says to simply reinstall itunes, I googled and found that other people said the same thing. I did reinstall itunes and it worked the second time around, other people on the internet said they've had to reinstall several times before it worked. Note that if you get the 1.1.2 error, you have to begin unlocking and activating from the very beginning.

I found iNdependence a little confusing as well as there's no "reboot" option. I started iNdependence and it didn't "find" my iphone, I unplugged the iphone from the computer and replugged it in and it found it. Then I just restarted the iphone manually and it worked.

A few times I'd go to jailbreakme.com and click on AppInstall and the iphone would go back to the lock screen very quickly - I kept trying (dialing through the numbers etc) and after the third time it finally worked. The guide says that after this, slide to go to the dial screen and the phone will reboot automatically, however whenever I did this the phone would not reboot - it would only reboot when I didn't slide.

When the 1.1.2 update finished, my phone did not go back to the "slide to unlock" screen, but rather the "slide of emergency" screen. I ran jailbreak and after several minutes and a few reboots the phone was activated and jailbroken.

Thanks for a great tutorial - I'm turbosimming this bad boy tomorrow and will then have a fully-functional iphone on a different network.

My only existing problems as of now are:

DONE, the problem ist the ISP, fails open the url, got the wifi from a friend (other ISP) and works, Phone is Jailbreak.

But now, i have a 1.1.2 downgradet to 1.1.1 iphone. AND I DONT WANT TO UPDATE AGAIN TO 1.1.2. Not necesary, how do i unlock the sim? again with anysim? its a 1.1.1 now, will i have problems with the bootloader?

Now I'm a happy owner of fully functional (apart from the phone part of cause; waiting for my 'stealth sim') purchased in US iPhone, from week 48, activated, jailbroken and
updated to 1.1.2 :D
One thing though gave me a little bit of a headache: first time I had downgraded to 1.1.1 the phone simply refused to get jailbroken neither with help of iNdependence (the iTunes couldn't connect to iPhone to downgrade it further to 1.0.2) nor via WiFi connection (Safari couldn't find the server). I guess that the error must have been lying in the 1.1.1 firmware itself. I upgraded the iPhone to 1.1.2 again, downloaded new 1.1.1 firmware from another server than the previous one, downgraded the firmware to that newdownloaded 1.1.1 version and then jailbroken the phone via WiFi. The rest was easy.

I hope it will help some newbies like myself to activate their precious iPhones.

STEP4 - UPGRADE TO FIRMWARE 1.1.2 & ACTIVATE AND JAILBREAK

-Click on INSTALLER on your iphone (Blue Icon usually the last one)
If you are asked to update your Installer please do it (if you updated don't forget after the update installs press the HOME button, it will take you back to the SLIDE TO UNLOCK page )

-Now open your ITUNES on your PC or MAC and press on the name of your IPHONE in the left colum, this will take you to the page with UPDATE or RESTORE buttons

On your IPHONE clikc on INSTALLER and press on TWEAKS 1.1.1 and press and install Oktoprep, once it is installed it will give you a message on your iphone saying "YOUR PHONE IS NOW READY TO BE UPGRADED TO 1.1.2 ........" press OK and then press the HOME button and it will take you back to the SLIDE TO UNLOCK.

-Your ITUNES is still open on your PC or MAC now press UPDATE and ITUNES will update your iphone to FIRMWARE 1.1.2 and this time you will not get an error message like the last time when u downgraded to 1.1.1
When the Update is finished you will get a picture of a plug that will appear on your iPhone and you will have the page SLIDE TO UNLCOK but written in French

-Close ITUNES on your PC or MAC

-download and unzip 1.1.2 Jailbreak from here http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/1.1.2-jailbreak.zip

-In the Folder you will find the file jailbreak.jar Open it and press on JAILBREAK!
(IF JAILBREAK.JAR DOESNT OPEN UPDATE YOUR JAVA HERE (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp)

This will take some time and at the end you will get a message that says "Your Phone will reboot a couple of times ...... "

Let your phone REBOOT a couple of time... And you will get back to the SLIDE to UNLOCK page

After doing this and using TurboSIM, I'm using the iPhone with t-mobile. Everything works great, EXCEPT that when I type on the keyboard, a bit of the graphics look messed up when I hit each letter. The phone types perfectly in landscape mode in Safari, but not in the upright position.

Anyone else experience this after unlocking? Anyone have a fix? It's not a huge deal, every letter works, it's just aesthetics.

Yes, use this tutorial. You simply need to jailbreak your phone. You have to downgrade first in order to do so.

Your phone won't be rendered useless at all, if anything goes wrong the worst that will happen is that you have to plug your iphone into your computer and restore it.

Follow the tutorial step by step and you'll be able to do install the apps and emulators you want.

i had the same issue and still have..
but the only way i found myself recovering from the green screen was simply removing the iphone from the cradle and powercycling it...
which it then rebooted back to normal.

but i noticed your specs are the same as mine... i cant seem to downgrade it to 1.1.1.

i place the iphone in recovery mode.. but when i shift/restore it.. and select the file. it doesnt do anything . im runing 7.4.1 itunes.. 7.5 doesnt work for me... gives me a error.

im so lost...

Any idea what I am doing wrong here? What should I try doing again?

I tried doing the whole thing over again and it worked. What I might have done wrong the first time was to run octoprep before I had opened iTunes, and I had chosen to syncronize my contacs.. Once I had iTunes open, and chose NOT to sync contacts it worked perfectly:)

Check this out. On my WiFi network DHCP is turned OFF and my computers have dedicated IP in this local network. So when I first tried to connect iPhone it didn't work . Then I turned DHCP server ON and Iphone worked perfectly. Anyway, if you turn OFF DHCP, then you must dedicate an local IP address from your network. It is in network settings on your Iphone when you choose available network in range. And about password/encryption, turn this to OFF until you sort this thing with Iphone. You can always turn encryption ON later. It worked for me perfectly. I entered 128bit WEP key and all is working fine.

My DHCP is off from what I can see in my settings...there are no detaisl filled in like ip adress and I cant add them ;(
It lets me add to the DNS setting only

It will be easier for you to temporarily (while you are in this Iphone activation procedure) turn encryiption to OFF. there must be an option in your router, search under wireless settings , and set encryption to none temporarily. Of course, save Key so you can restore it later with all encryption settings. For about DHCP server, again, temporarily, set it to ON, so you don't have to mess with this in your iPhone for now. Then just choose your network ID in iPhone and you are set to go, it must work.

Apart from my iTunes won't sync with my iPhone and I can't get any files from my PC onto the iPhone... Any ideas anyone?? Cheers...

Heh, real newbie here. I ordered a i-phone on e-bay and i was told it was a 1.1.1 version but when i received it i found it to be a 1.1.2 version by looking in the settings of the phone. Now he did activate it for a few weeks so it has been used but i live in canada and want to use it with rogers.....what the heck do i do? sorry for the complete ignorance. By the way it just says slide to unlock and then when i do it says no sim card...if that helps any.

Ta dxer, I disable the encryption which worked so my Iphone connected and I was able to complete that step.

Now onto getting a sim to work

I have re encrypted it so I still can't get it to connect, I have tried every password I have for this b**y wifi. Its ok to disable it but I can't use wifi on my laptop then as it won't connect....weird.

Think I will take a rest...I don't know what other password it wants !!!!!!!! grrr

I bought an apple i-phone in India and am my service provider's name is Airtel. I got the phone unlocked. Version is 04.01.13_G and am able to use it only for making calls. Not able to use i-tunes, i-pod, bluetooth etc. help reqd pls?

i had some trouble, too, at first when i just finished jailbreaking my phone using this tutorial. but i figured it out after playing around with itunes for a while. what you have to do is click the iphone icon on the left under "devices". then you go to the "music" tab along the top. then put a check on sync music. you can adjust whether you want to sync all songs and playlists or just selected playlists. hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply, I tried all those options... When I click on the Sync button, itunes freezes for a short while, the iPhone says it is synching for about 20 seconds and then it stops... nothing happens! No music on the iPhone, even tho I have 'Sync all songs' checked in the music tab option. Any other ideas??

When logging onto the wifi connection, the password it needs is the WEP key, try it again a few times, eventually it should work... Good luck!

I just bought one yesterday and still waiting for it to arrive. So I can say my opinion after few days.

I presume that they are not selling a genuine TurboSIM. But I strongly believe it'll do it's job because the seller has so bold collection on sale on Ebay.

What do you guys think? Bad purchase or not?

I have been trying to down grade over and over again, but i can't get it to restore mode at all. Itunes either goes to activation page and the iphone only shows emergency slide with itunes plug in pic
