Has anyone tried a Cingular "Blue" SIM (the old AT&T Wireless) with the IASign method?

I have the same question.

We could then add a MediaMax plan for $20/month and have everything except visual voicemail working.

I guess it'll have to be the $25 mMode plan for us Cingular Blue customers.

Just in case there's someone out there who reads this... were you able to get the iPhone working your Blue account with mMode?

I tried this last night and could not get it to work. I then called AT&T and tried to get them to upgrade my SIM to a new 64k and they said the only way they could do it was to upgrade my plan. They are however sending me a new 32k old blue AT&T SIM for free.

I tried using iASign with the old "Blue" Sim and could not get it to work. I currently have the Charter Plan "unlimited voice" . Did anyone else get the old ATT Blue sim card to work?

Yeah. they log into the cingular activations page. Enter you phone number to lookat your accoutn, then there is a link for change "ESN/ICCID/IMEI". Its in there. Took about 20 seconds.

It works? Does data work? I had a Blackjack on Cingular Blue and had to change all the data settings to point to the AT&T Wireless proxies.

Heres an update...
I got 2 new 3g Sim cards from ATT. They tried to update my account without changing my Blue charter plan. They could not get it to update without changing my plan. They entered all the info, but the system would not let them do it. Then I took my sim cards to Radio Shack, they too could not do it.
Anyone else have any ideas?

I asked about changing the ICCID on HowardForums and I got the same response you were getting. Here was the response:

"No, you will have to "migrate" as far as I know. Changing the SIM on your account will cause this, it doesn't have to be a change of equipment or anything."

I'm going to try myself over the weekend. I'll let you know what I find.

It's not going to work. The iPhone is locked to the 310-41 MNC. Previously, Cingular phones accepted 310-38 OR 310-41 but this is no longer the case. Cingular wants to migrate people off old Blue plans. The system will not allow an Orange SIM to be activated on a Blue account and the iPhone won't accept a 310-38 SIM. This also means that none of the prepaid MVNOs out there will work as all (at least that I know of) use 310-38 as their MNC.

This was my case and here's how i did it.
1. Go to any at&t store
2. tell them you lost your phone
3. they will offer you an upgrade with 2yr contract, act like you dont want to sign up for contract
4. ask if they can give you a new sim card with that line, saying how you have an unlocked phone at home
5. get new at&t sim, use iasign and tool

Are you sure you have an old ATTWS plan ("Cingular Blue") from several years ago?... I've tried getting a new sim before and they gave me an "old" SIM that doesn't work in new Cingular phones, not one of the new sims.

If you live in the US it's definitely not that hard to get a new SIM for your iPhone at the AT&T store. I went to my local store and blatantly lied about selling my iPhone on eBay but said that I took the SIM out to look at it and my dog chewed it up. Sounds ridiculous but I now have 2 SIM cards for my iPhone. I just said I needed one to ship out with the phone again and would pay for it in case I needed to but they even gave it to me for free. It's the same one that is in my iPhone right now.

If you have an old cinglular blue account att will not be able to switch you to a new 3g sim. I have tried many times even bribed some people working but the system will not let them convert the accounts together. I have the charter unlimted plan, which that plan is not compatible with the new 3g sim that we need to use in the iphone. The only way so that i found was to either upgrade to new plans which i would nto do, or go with an go phone which i did and its currently working as a go phone plan. If anyone has a different method in getting a new 3g sim please let us know.

You and I are in the same boat I too an a Charter Plam account and have tried to get anyone who would listen to me at Cing/At&t to put a new sim on my old blue account. They say it will not accept it. If anyone has concrete evidence that it will please let us know what we need to do. I have new virgn 64K sims that the store gave me and 2 $99.00 charter plan with the unlimited nationwide plus the $24 unlimted data. I had to go iphone pick your paln (go phone) to keep from signing contract awating an unlock. I was hoping the IASign would work, but from reading here it only validates what I suspected, that it will not work until a full unlock, or we can use a orange sim on a blue account.

charter plan rocks!
