8gb iphone whos 3.5 capacity...

hi folks quick question. i have a 1.1.1 unlocked and activated using appsnap and anysim. how ever... it says 3.5 capacity. no other mods or plugins installed. searched around and have not been getting good results. any hint? did i use the wrong 1.1.1 firmware?

Are you sure you received a 8gig iphone? sounds like you're on a 4gig

i am sure its 8gb. i bought it directly at an apple store 2 weeks ago...box and everything is correct...

could it be that i used a 1.1.1 firmware that was for the 4gb? is there such a difference? :confused:

went to apple to get the phone checked out yesterday. was the most interesting experience. before anything can be exchanged under warranty, you have to have a genius given approval. So i explain to them that

the phone is a 4g phone in a 8g shell.
(I did a virginize + complete restore to 1.1.2 before taking the phone there)

he immediately took a look and first thing he noticed was that my imei and sim was never activated. (never did activate it, out of box jailbroke + anysim) at the point it seemed like he wasn't going to help me because he suspects me i by passed the activation.

I swear that it was -working- on my GF's ATT sim card! and that the phone was a gift to her and she was going to kick my ass for giving her a fake 8g phone!

Few minutes of negotiation later he went to the back and brought a sim card.
inserted the sim card and the phone was -activated- without connecting to itunes. (power simcard!)

At the end he saw for himself that indeed it only showed 3.6gb capacity...so they exchanged me another phone.

phone that was exchanged with was a week 44, -ACTIVATED- 1.1.1 phone. it already was activated with 1.1.1
