Hi all,

These threads have a huge amount of "talk" about the out of the box 1.1.2s, but there really isn't much discussing the current status of development attempts being made at unlocking the phones with the new baseband firmwares.

I have a few questions anyway, would be great if anyone here could answer them for me:

1) Is the dev team working on this? (Their own news thread hasn't had a post since 1.1.2 appeared).

2) Has anyone copied the new baseband firmware off one of the new phones so that it can be analysed?

3) Has anyone attempted to flash a new baseband chip with the old firmware (i.e. take the chip off the board and flash it - i guess its an eeprom?) - I know its well out of the scope of the average user but it is possible, and would be interesting to see if it will work.

4) Is there a development thread/forum - for people developing an unlock solution for the current baseband to share the workload and experiment results on this?

Thanks in advance,

Thanks in advance,

1) Who knows...
2) No
3) No
4) No

Remember you got an nuclear device, thats why all things are hard and obscure.

thanks for the reply - just seen in another thread now that a hw dump might actually be available now - http://iphone.fiveforty.net/wiki/index.php/1.1.2_Bootloader . Guess this would be the first step in making progress on the new baseband! hopefully its real!

some alternative answers ;)

1) it seems so: http://docs.google.com/View?docid=dgzw9xs_0gfhxns
4) not really but this one comes the closest: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=16571

its all fairly disappointing news at the moment - apple seem to have done a proper good job with this version of the bootloader in protecting their network partners (and their corresponding revenue).
damn them.

still, my iPaperweight is doing a very good job and shall continue to do so until a hack is developed to turn it into an actual phone ;)
