Would like to hear from everyone, if you upgraded to 1.1.2 and tried to unlock, the number of failed unlocks versus successful, does this so called AnySim 1.2 actually work like it is said to?

Anysim 1.2u work on 1.1.1 and 1.0.2 but not 1.1.2. But if you unlock using OTB1.1.1 using Anysim 1.2u and update to 1.1.2 it will work. But there is no solution to unlock SIM for OTB 1.1.2 US or UK.

AnySIM 1.2u works on 1.1.2 if you change the springboard executable with springboard from version 1.1.1.
1. change the springboard file with 1.1.1 version (must be the patched one to show the 3rd party apps)
2. reboot and run AnySIM 1.2u
3. change back to springboard 1.1.2
4. reboot again.
5. enjoy 1.1.2 unlocked :)
PS. just for the upgraded 1.1.2 with old Bootloader 3.9 (NOT FOR THE OTB 1.1.2 with Bootloader 4.6)

@crackn,
the patched springboard 1.1.1 file is 777,964 bytes and the
springboard 1.1.2 file is 787,136 bytes right?.
I have several of them on my computer and I forgot to label them :(
Thanks

Just a little story of my experience:
I unlocked with AnySIM 1.2u while running 1.1.1
After unlocking the phone wouldn't get any carrier logo and could not
make any calls.
When trying to choose a carrier, all local carriers were displayed but grayed
out.
I then upgraded the phone to 1.1.2 und activated using the octoprep/conceited
method, and right after activating, the radio started to work again.
So, apparently you have to have 1.1.2 on your phone in order to make
calls when using an unlocked 4.02.13G baseband. (I read somewhere
that it also works on 1.0.2 firmware, but seemingly not on 1.1.1)
Cheers

You dun have to downgrade to 1.0.2. Only to 1.1.1 and do AnySim 1.2u..
Just make sure your iPhone are OTB1.1.1 and not OTB1.1.2

cRACKn,
I have an unlocked 1.1.1 currently, so if i install oktoprep, upgrade to 1.1.2, jailbreak 1.1.2, change the springboard and then unlock with anySIM 1.2u, this should work?
Thanks

Sorry to bother you all...but...
Where do I find the Springboard executable?
I am on 1.1.1 unlocked with AnySim 1.1 right now.
Could I do this?
Backup "Springboard Executable" (????)
Update to 1.1.2
Jaibreak / Activate
Exchange Springboard Executable (upload the 1.1.1 one to the 1.1.2 Phone, Backup the 1.1.2 file first)
Install AnySim 1.2u
Run Anysim 1.2u
Re-Exchange the Springboard Executable
Here we go, ready to make calls...
Am I right?

Can someone please confirm whether the following steps would work in order to upgrade from a 1.1.1, unlocked with AnySim 1.1 to a 1.1.2:
Make copy of current "Springboard" executable 1.1.1 to PC
Install Oktoprep
Upgrade (not restore) to 1.1.2
Jaibreak / Activate using jailbreak 1.1.2
Switch Springboard Executable 1.1.2 with version 1.1.1
Install and run AnySim 1.2u
Restore initial 1.1.2 Springboard Executable
Patch sms/phone app if in unsupported country
Thanks

Hi again jelassaad
I’m glade someone’s finally posted an unlock starting at an unlocked v1.1.1, I’ve been thinking Y downgrade to 1.0.2 to end up back where u started at 1.1.1 again? The only question I’d have before attempting this version of updating myself is the sections in other posts where people are saying install AnySim 1.2 u at the 1.0.2 firmware stage of the progress.
Apart from not understanding that bit this unlock solution sounds great

I more thing you seen the German unlocked iphone post? It could be big news for us but the facts are bit cloudy as 2 what exactly is the process of unlocking. Could be another reason to sit tight with 1.1.1 for now. :)

n350ziphone, from different posts that i've seen, it seems like anySIM 1.2u would owrk only on 1.0.2 and 1.1.1 but looking at what crackn is saying that it should work on 1.1.2 if you put the old spingboard execeutable. Now what 's making hesitate is the fact that i don't have any confirmation from other threads that it has been done.

Hi Just realized we where talking about updates a few days ago.
I tried the half way process from 1.1.1 up to 1.1.2 then run Anysim 1.1.2u all that happened is the Anysim never finished and the phone keeps rebooting over and over again.
I used the information here about downgrading first and its work out ok (ish) edge stopped working so YouTube only works with wifi but safari fine , weather apps fine, emails fine, its just YouTube,.
Also had a problem with text not recognizing saved contacts but I’ve solved that problem now using iDemocrazy 2.
If you’re going to try this process get hold of iDemocrazy 2 it’s got all the tools you need to do the job, like AppTap for getting the phone on to the activation screen after downgrading back to 1.1.1, also iBricker’s handy because itunes would let me downgrade back to 1.0.2 but iBricker made it happen.
Use This Guide:
http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15567&highlight=upgrade+1.1.2 and iDemocrazys / iBricker’s tools and you should be ok.

Well, I have succesfully ran (twice) anySIM 1.2.1u directly in 1.1.2.
There is one reason that has been proven by many (not only in 1.1.2) that will cause anySIM to crash: incorrectly writing the directory name, it must be /Applications/anySIM.app no more, no less!, so before sending the whole directory into /Applications, remember to rename it to anySIM.app! (without the ! ;) ).
I have a hypothesis (will have to validate it with a third phone) of a second reason why in some cases anySIM crashes in 1.1.2: it depends on the version of lockdownd patch you used after jailbreaking it. I know there are at least 3 versions of lockdownd patches for 1.1.2, each one with a different activation status, bricked status, etc.
For info, in the two iPhones I unlocked I used the one explained here: http://elite's site/wiki/112_Lockdownd_Patch, i.e. a patching of no more than 6 bytes. I took the original lockdownd file in the iPhones and patched it manually using a hex editor and then overwrote the old one in the iPhone... sorry!, in iPhone :P. In the page you will notice Zibri's comments about this patch working but not working... well, it has been 2 weeks since I did this and no glitch at all... the second iPhone is being used in a different network by a friend and I have not hear anything wrong from him, so I would say it is not a Orange F specificity.
AH!, I did not switch SpringBoard versions as previously proposed, nor used the airplane mode, but at least the first trick would explain that maybe there is indeed some kind of interaction between lockdownd and SpringBoard (added in 1.1.2) that detects when somebody is messing around with the baseband, and with the lockdownd patch I used, this interaction is bypassed, but not with other versions... as I said this is just pure hypothesis!, I will have to validate them.
Does somebody have a crash test dummy iPhone to test different lockdowns patches??
See ya,
Gusano.

I have my iPhone setup as stated above, but when I launch anySIM, it immediately crashes, and returns to the springboard after a few moments. Thoughts?!

Check that the directory is correct (anySIM.app, if I remember correctly) and that everythin inside is read and executable.
If that's not the case, exactly what you describe may happen.

I found this process in another thread here and no one seems to have noticed.
By all looks and commentary this looks as if it should work. I am wondering if some of the folks with test phones would check it out ?
Here is more easier guide... this one works only for upgraded iphones and not OTB 1.1.2.
if you are on 1.1.1 unlocked and jailbreak
1. run octoprep on the iphone
2. update to 1.1.2 (clcik update not restore i itunes)
3. jailbreak using 1.1.2 jailbreak (there is a new one where activation and youtube are already working)
4. SSh Anysim 1.2.1u
5. Reboot the phone and turn on the AIRPLANE mode (this is important so that it won't crash summerboard when unlocking is running)
5a Run anySIM 1.2.1u to unlock sim
6. install iWorld
7. your done...
we have been using these steps it eliminates the need to downgrade then upgrade again. this cuts time doing the upgrade.

Mine crashed when running anySIM 1.2.1u on my 1.2.1. I also tried switching the SpringBoard as mentioned by cracken, but in this case you loose all your third party apps therefore will not have the access the anySIM to run it anymore. I guess the most reliable way so far is to downgrade to 1.1.1 and then update back and not need to downgrade all the way to 1.0.2.

gee man, read all the information before you post that it didnt work for you.
i said to use the patched 1.1.1 springboard. of course if you use the original 1.1.1 you will not have the third party apps and in concequence, you will not have anysim.

Gee man, i am not stupid, as this is exactly what i've done - I've made a copy of the patched 1.1.1 springboard as the very first step before i start the upgrade followed by the remaining steps and installed it on my upgraded 1.1.2.

Hi jelassaad
Nice to here you made a successful upgrade to 1.1.2, I'm wondering how's your edge connection? Ive lost the (E) from the small box meaning I only have GPRS connected with no edge. I work out how to adjust a few system files to get the edge settings showing up again in the network tab, but even after putting in the correct info for my network provider I still don't get a connection on edge like I had on 1.1.1 firmware.

n350ziphone, mine are working perfectly. I upgraded 5 iphones over the weekend and they all work great. The sms notiffication and VM notification is working good in 1.1.2. As for edge, after inputing the info APN/username/passwd it is working good. Now i am in france and my provider is orange so i havent tried other provider for more testing. Perhaps, you may want to redo the whole process of upgrading.
After my upgrades, i patched the MeCCA file for ringtones, I manually installed the patched Springboard and all working good now. Let me know if i can of any help.
I could not unlock a 1.1.1 on 4.01.13_G.Then i upgraded to 1.1.2 4.02.13_G and successfully unlock with anySIM 1.2.1u on airplane mode.

Yeah but since that version is buggy, and everyone says something different i began to get confused.Since i read that blah blah it should work on 1.1.1,but it didnt exatly tell on which modem .. so i gave it a try.
Plus i read this guide: http://www.hacktheiphone.com/112/iphone_update_112_unlock_windows_3.html
which i understood that you could unlock 1.1.1 on 4.01 with the new anySIM.
