Ok I know there are countless threads about this and I've searched and searched. I'm on a windows PC and my iTunes used to sync my iPhone just fine. Well the other day I go to plug it in and iTunes doesn't recognize my phone. Now what exactly can I do to fix this? I've heard everything from deleting any iTunes related files using WinSCP to replacing the lockdownd file. If anyone has an answer to fix this on windows please let me know. Thanks.

I have been looking for an answer for this problem for 2 weeks. It seems like nobody really helps anymore because of the amount of threads people post asking the same questions (like myself sometimes). Sometimes the search doesn't help much. When there are 31 pages to read.......

Anyway somebody HELP us!

Did you make any changes to your phone before not being recognized by your PC?

I had this problem after unlocking a OTB 1.1.1..although everything else worked perfectly fine.

I determined that the problem was with my lockdown file. When using my original lockdown file my computer/itunes recognized the phone..however after using the patched version, this was not the case.

I replaced my original lockdown file once more with the lockdown.swap file found here: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=11833

AND made SURE that the permissions were set the same as the original, which is 0555 I believe.

Problem solved after reboot, itunes/pc recognizes the phone and I have no problems with service either.

I'll give it a try when I get off work today and see what it does.

Just tried it today and it didn't work. I uploaded the lockdownd.swap file and tried to rename it to lockdownd to replace it. But it didn't work, I got an "error trying to rename file message."

first delete the old lockdownd file and then rename the lockdownd.swap file. reboot your phone. that is it.
