Since they are both based on the same firmware... with jailbreak comes activation =D

iPhone and the iPod touch use the exact same software. Same methods to upgrade etc... only difference is that the iPod touch has the phone functions stripped from the update, as you would expect.

My guess is it was the symlink again. I honestly doubt that it's easy for iTunes to detect if it's been done. (As long as it's not iTunes 7.5)

i have a jailbroken 1.1.1. checked the installer for new recent packages. one of them is OktoPrep (prepare for 1.1.1 for TouchFree jailbreak). not sure if that's for upcoming 1.1.2. maybe some developers might know.

I understand that upgrading a phone that has been 1.1.1 out of the box to 1.1.2 (activated/jailbroken with Independance (downgraded to 1.0.2, upgraded again using iTunes), then unlocked with Anysim 1.1.1) is probably not a good option at this point and will make it an iPod touch, am I right? So I will better wait for Anysim 1.1.2 to be finished after now the secpack is out?

I know this will sound a stupid question to some of the experts here, but hopefully someone has any input on it. Would love to have native german language support rather than iDeutsch or any other solution.

Thanks DogGunn for the heads up. Oh man, I went to sleep at around 1 AM yesterday, and woke up to find 1.1.2 is already out AND jailbroken.

Yeah, must say, amazing work. However, I doubt there will be an OOB method.

TUAW, the article a couple below.
Erica says that the symlink did not work after updating.

I'm connected now via iPhuc. I'm jailed again. I can see iPhoneDrive, all my Tap Tap Revolution files, etc. A symbolic link I added before upgrading did not work.
