How to Works!

In the Scenario you have Your Grancentral number in your Myfaves 5

Inbound Calls : The caller call you number (Pre-set by Grancentral) then the service forwards the call to your Mobile Phone in this case, it can also be work, home ect.

Outbound Calls: Go to http://m.grandcentral.com Pick a contact from your phonebook which can be phone contact by sync with Itunes and saving them with outlook, Click the contact and Grancentral Will call you, and connect you!!

thanks, but is it just me or does the contacts screen look horrible when you go to grandcentral.com/mobile? It is TINY, and you have to zoom in to see your contacts and accurately hit the "Call" link.

Not a major deal, but they could optimize the site a bit better. Also, the above screen shot is not truly indicitive of what we would see on the iPhone, correct? Since Safari does not support Flash, I don't think you would be able to see the screen shown in the OP.

It works on any carrier that offers free calls to certain numbers. It works by making all incoming calls appear as if they all came in from that number. It's the same concept as if you forwarded your house phone to your cell. They call your house, your cell rings as if your house was calling. If your home number was a my fav then all calls forwarded through your home number would be free.

It's not spam because the poster has nothing to gain by telling you this info.

It applies to all Cellphones.

It should not be stickied since the increased exposure might ruin this for all of us. LOL

forgot to add, using safari you can initiate free outgoing calls too.

oh and it works ont-mobile (myfavs) , Sprint (sprint2home) and altel (free to 10)

I just set Grand Central up to call my TMO # - then I called my GC # from another phone - caller ID on the TMO phone showed the caller ID of the phone I was calling from, NOT the GC #. So how is my faves going to work???

Go into settings on grandcentral and change it so it says whenever someone calls me show my grandcentral number.

It will no longer show the callers cid but rather that one gc number from now on. To see who is calling just answer and gc will tell you who is it and you can press 1 to receive or 4 for record etc.

I've had Grandcentral for a while and it's pretty nice, but it's a bitch to have to use Safari to place calls and you can only make calls to contacts in your GrandCentral address book. Also, you have to refill minutes in GrandCentral. This is free for now (but annoying) and will cost money when it comes out of beta.

You need a MyFaves plan for this to work... Don't those require special phone software? Or have I missed something?

Ill try my best to answer your questions and add a few corrections.

1. Grandcentral does not charge credits on incoming calls. The credit charges are for outgoing calls made via safari, or outgoing calls initiated through the callback feature when you access your voicemail.

2. You can only call people using m.grandcentral.com and they must already be in your address book. The call button does not work in the full browser version of gc. However, you can ADD people using the full version of gc. So its a two step process to call someone not in your address book. I have two bookmarks, one called add contact, and one called call contact.

3. Myfavs works on any phone but you have to add them to your my favs using a myfavs phone. You cnn initially so it using my.t-mobile.com. It will work but it will get stuck waiting for acknoledgement. During this time the favs do work but i dont think you can change it until the first request goes through. What I do is just borrow a friends phone for 1 Min, pop in my sim and power it on and you'll instantly get a text saying your FAVS were updated. Then put the sim back in my iPhone.

4. Visual voicemail does not work. You have to call in.
