OK ! Thanks for Niancin Tiff exploit and DEV team for wonderfull work to jailbreak our iThouch's !
here is how to Jailbreak:
http://www.touchdev.net/wiki/Jailbreak_Guide
*edit > Link for iphone 1.1.1 system & app files ( complete )
http://isohunt.com/torrents/?ihq=iphone+1.1.1
Just copy the Apps from iPhone 1.1.1 Application folder to your iTouch Application folder
MobileMail.app
MobileCal.app
Maps.app
MobileNotes.app
Weather.app
Stocks.app
after copy the files you should go to terminal:
ssh -l root xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ( x = itouch IP )
password: alpine
once you get there
chmod -Rf +x /Applications/*
( * = means all files. you can specify a complete file name if you like )
For Mail, copy /System/Library/PreferenceBundles/MobileMailSettings.bundle from iphone files to the same place in your iTouch
For Maps, copy /System/Library/Frameworks/GMM.Framework from iphone files to the same place in your iTouch
Now Notes, Weather, Maps, Mail and Calendar from iphone 1.1.1 is working 100% on iTouch.
** Very nice guide to rearrange your springboard icons (apps) manually.

How did you install the apps, I have dragged the unzipped folders into the SFTP:/Applications on my iPod Touch but I can't see them in my dock.

hi,
i jailbreaked my itouch, ssh works, i copied all apps in /Applications - Folder, but
the apps are not in the home-screen.
when i start MobileMail.app from ssh it works, but i can't use the home-button?
any tipps?
is there any file, which have to be edited for the apps in the home-screen?
Just tried to install Mail and Notes on my iTouch and won't have any of it. I'm using Cyberduck for this. What am I doing wrong in the steps below? Installer.app seems to be working fine, just tested it with the NES emulator and a few ROMs which work fine.
1) I copy the apps from iPhone filesystem to iPod Touch into the /Applications folder
2) I copy /System/Library/PreferenceBundles/MobileMailSettings.bundle into the same folder on iPod
3) I restart my iPod
4) They are on my springboard. They open, freeze, then return to the springboard after a few seconds.
EDIT: Oops, forgot the SSH step. All fixed now. :D

I am following the Mac intel guide for jailbreaking, and have come as far as to the "Installing Trip1PogoStick Via FTP". Everything goes perfect until I am typing in the command "~/Trip1PogoStick/temp/springpatch". Terminal then tells me "Permission denied".

you have to install sprindboard hack
28. Open Safari on iPod Touch and navigate to http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/beta/
29. Tap yes to add it to Installer
30. Back in terminal, using ssh, type /Applications/Installer.app/Installer and hit return to launch Installer again.
31. Hit refresh to make the new application show up.
32. Install Trip1PogoStick located under the "System" category to enable scrolling and applications.
33. When you're done, reboot the iPod Touch and close all your windows. You now have AppTapp.
Check if you did it !

Ok I used WINSCP which is free to copy the folders and bundles and GMM framework over to the same places on the touch!
But it won't work, it freezes then crashes those applications.
And when I SSH into the touch the above Rf command is not recognised! somebody who got it working please explain how!

Ok I realise where I made a mistake!
I started typing the command at "Rf" when is starts at "chmod -Rf +x /Applications/ "
So make sure you don't make the same mistake!
If you do that it should work as mine is now doing!
My calender however does not let me add events despite copying over the folders suggested here twice - its just the standard touch calender!
any ideas how to sort that! also sketches keeps crashing! why is that?

Just copy the /Applications/MobileCal.app from iPhone 1.1.1 to /Applications/ on your iTouch. Just replace it with iPhone one and don't forget to apply chmod like you did again.
after copy the files you should go to terminal:
ssh -l root xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ( x = itouch IP )
password: alpine
once you get there
chmod -Rf +x /Applications/*
( * = means all files. you can specify the file name like in this case MobileCal.app )
It should work.
I have all the apps installed but they don't open, they crash after 5 seconds.

Do the SSH bit above and they will ALL work!

Does anybody know how to/if we can change the order of applications on 1.1.1 using the pgostick hack? I have a few apps and mail is getting bumped to the second page. Do you know if it works based on alphabetical order? If so, will mail still work if you change its name? Any help would be appreciated.

Do we need OS X to do this and what's SSH and SFTP?

I've seen dozens of people asking this on the various iPod touch / iPhone hacking related forums.
Quick summary: If you don't know what "root", "SFTP", or "SSH" are, then you have no business trying to pull this off.

So, I've gotten through the whole guide, fixed the Calendar, installed Weather, Maps and Mail along with about 13 other 3rd party apps (all which work :-D) but Mail still crashes on me. I installed the MobileMail bundle as the guide says and can add log in info for my gmail account, but, as I said, Mail still crashes on me.
I've done the chmod -R a+x Media_sym/Applications/* deal, so I know it's not that.
Any suggestions?

While I don't think it should have any effect, did you put the preference bundle file in the /System/Library/PreferenceBundles/ folder?
I suspect this merely controls the application preference screen in the preference menu, however its also possible that the absence of this could cause some issues.
Also, your path to the Applications folder includes /Media_sym/ I take it you have moved the apps to another location on the Touch, rather than the default /Applications/ folder? If not, then this could be the problem, since you're chmodding a folder and its contents with the following path /Media_sym/Applications/*

Have you run the following command over SSH in Terminal, after you have installed the Mail Application?
chmod -R a+x /Applications/*

i have exactly the same problem. all the apps except mobilemail work. Mail opens, freezes for a few seconds and then crashes. I have done all the necessary steps and copied all the needed files into their respective directories. I don't know what else to try.

I'm having the same problem, and yes, I've run that command. Is it possible I have a borked bundle? All the other bits 'n pieces that came with it (the GMM file, for example) are working fine.

Try to use this mail app found here: ( to make sure you are using 1.1.1 apps )

I did find an alternative copy of the mail app - that seems to have fixed things. The Mail client is better than none, but it's still too limited :)

Also, I didn't move my Applications folder. When I SSH into my ipod, I am shown

Media_sym
and within the Media_sym folder is my Applications folder, and as I said, all of my applications work except Mail. It could be the downloaded version of Mail I have.
Can anyone PM me a link to a copy of Mail or all of the iPhone apps?

You need to install the BSD Subsystem from within Installer.app.
